Hi! The past few months have been busy for me and I’ve been negligent in getting my webpage letter out. I recently just returned from the Romance Writer’s of America’s® Annual Conference that took place this year in New York City.

The annual conference was terrific! I had a wonderful time. I went to a matinee performance of the musical Chicago with a couple of friends and enjoyed it immensely. There’s something about seeing a show live, the performers work so hard it’s invigorating and you come away feeling energized.

The Conference workshops were very good this year. There’s lots of variety and I try to attend as many as I can, then buy tapes of those I wasn’t able to get to. I also had fun networking and catching up with other authors, friends and editors.

I also paid a visit to “Ground Zero”. I had been in New York with some girlfriends from Scotland prior to 9/11 and we’d gone up the World Trade Center to see the magnificent view.

Even though I’d watched the horror of those buildings collapsing I couldn’t seem to grasp it. I had to see for myself. My heart goes out to those who lost friends and loved ones.

But New Yorkers are strong and resilient people. That’s evident in the way they have moving forward and started to rebuild.

During each Conference a “Readers for Life” Literacy Signing takes place. This year the book sale raised more than $47,000 for Literacy.

All too soon it was time to head home, but as always with happy memories of a wonderful time.

It’s difficult, for me at least, to get back to work, but I’m trying. We are planning a trip north to visit our new grandson who is six months old now and growing fast. We’re making the trip in our Motorhome, the one we bought last year and christened Miss Lucy.

I hope you are all enjoying the long summer days. Don’t forget to slap on that sunscreen.
